Te Araroa Trail in Omaha Forest


Trails: Te Araroa Trail Matakana Valley Road entrance – Te Araroa Trail – Junction to Tamahunga Track – Mt Tamahunga Summit – Tamahunga Ecological Area boundary – Junction to Rodney Rd – Return back the same way.

Caution: Very muddy and rugged track! Experienced trampers only!

Car Park: No car park around Matakana Valley Road entrance! On road parking only (be careful!) and do not block anyone’s driveway! It’s about 80 km 60 minutes drive from Auckland city centre.
Public Toilet: No.
Weather: Check Weather before you go!

The “Total Time” is my time in Oct. which includes morning tea and lunch time. That day was cloudy and the tracks were rugged and muddy. If you slow down to average 2.8 km/h plus 60 min stop then the total time will be around 6:15 hrs.
