Hakarimata Walkway

Hakarimata Walkway in Hakarimata Range is bout 14km long from the northern end (Parker Road) to southern end (Waingaro Road). This post track is known as part of Hakarimata Walkway by most trampers but officially it is Waterworks Track (Walk) which starts from Brownlee Ave access to the Reservoir, then continue the Hakarimata Trig (Summit Track) to the Hakarimata Summit. The old tracks was replaced by a new well-built wood stairs which totally comes to about 1450, as well as a very good lookout tower and helicopter pad.

Trails: Brownlee Ave access – Waterworks Track (Walk) to the Reservoir – Hakarimata Trig (Summit Track) to the summit – same way return back to Brownlee Ave access carpark.

Car Park: Yes. Set “Brownlee Ave, Ngaruawahia” on you GPS. It’s about 100km from Auckland and about 20km from Hamilton.
Public Toilet: Yes
Weather: Check Weather before you go!

Total distance: 2.61 km
Max elevation: 383 m
Min elevation: 3 m
Total climbing: 417 m
Total descent: -97 m
Average speed: 3.39 km/h
Total time: 00:57:09

The “Total Time” is my time in June which includes morning tea time and lunch time. That day was fine and the track was good. If you slow down to average 2.5 km/h plus 60 min stop then the total time will be around 3 hrs.

Sorry this map just shows one way track. So all data below the chart should be doubled.
